Katharina Tomisato

Student Engagement Liaison

Originally from New Orleans, Katharina’s interest in the intersection of the built environment, socioeconomics, & community mutual aid is a personal one. Due to her experience with evacuating Hurricane Katrina, she obtained a degree in International Relations with the intent of pursuing a career in environmental justice. After several years of postponing law school by way of teaching English in China & riding motorcycles across Southeast Asia, she found herself drawn to architecture after working for a disaster recovery non-profit. Around this time, she also apprenticed in a small creative studio where she learned to fabricate & install design interventions in both public & private spaces. She completed a dual Masters in Architecture & Sustainable Real Estate Development from Tulane University during the pandemic, & worked hybrid for a local firm until she decided to embrace a life where she both worked & lived remote. What followed were two years of travel through Latin America & Europe while working contract positions in graphic design, UX, & architecture. She moved to Seattle in 2024 for a full time position where she works to continuously improve on accessibility, inclusivity, & sustainable designs executed at scale across the global company portfolio.
