Nasreen is an Architect who gained her bachelor's degree at the American University of Sharjah where values such as design for the people by the people were instilled. Her master's program focusing on digital fabrication housed at the fab lab Barcelona led to an interest in participatory design and digital fabrications. She considers herself a community advocate which led to her being a co-founder of a nonprofit in the UAE focusing on educating the community in Dubai on city-wide issues. She moved to the USA in 2015 and continued community work in Las Vegas by researching a neglected neighborhood through participatory design workshops. Currently, she is a project Architect and Social Justice coordinator at Environmental works community design center working on affordable housing and community engagement for various architecture and landscape architecture projects. She is interested in how tools such as community engagement and digital fabrication can create socially responsible design making spaces that impact the people that use them improving their selves, environments and lives.
